The combined networking event and Expo visit in Shanghai

Officials from ERC Council, answering questions on funding issues

The Science and Technology week at the Expo in Shanghai was a good opportunity for the Fellows of both intakes to get together for the first time, since the fellows of the 2nd intake started their 2-year program on 1 June of this year.

The networking event on 16 June also provided a good platform for meeting up with the Shanghai academia, who were well represented in the meeting. Senior members of the European Research Council, EURAXESS and Marie Curie Actions provided the participants with valuable information about funding research projects in and with European institutions. The Fellows of both intakes also attended thematic sessions at the Expo on 17 June, which centered on the theme Better Life – Better Cities. They were even able to extend their stay in Shanghai, because of the closure of Beijing airport due to torrential rain and thunder storms.
